Introduce members of your assembly to the most basic information about the process of Christian initiation with this colorful little booklet, Disciples Making Disciples, the Role of the Assembly in Christian Initiation. After briefly explaining some of the circumstances that prompt people to seek initiation in the Catholic Church, the author suggests simple ways that assembly members can support them in their journey of formation: pray for them, be present and participate at the rites of initiation, be hospitable, give witness, and volunteer.
Priced for quantity sales, and available also in Spanish, this booklet would make an ideal gift for members of the assembly and an excellent addition to the literature rack at the back of church. Its inviting simplicity makes it a most effective first step for forming the assembly to be a community of disciples that makes disciples.
The author, Victoria M. Tufano, is senior editor and liturgical consultant at Liturgy Training Publications. She has served as a parish pastoral associate and director of the catechumenal process, and she writes and teaches about the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and liturgy.
The book is illustrated throughout by artist, Alejandro Romero, who was born in Tabasco, Mexico, and grew up in Mexico City. He studied art at the Academy of San Carlos of the National School of Fine arts in Mexico, in Paris, New Mexico, and Chicago, where he has lived since 1976.
